Bruichladdich Scotch Tasting & Father’s Day Weekend
Great Scotch and One Very Good Excuse to Treat Dad
A Father’s Day gift that will not be forgotten!
Join us in The Cellars on Saturday, June 20 from 4:00–5:30 PM for a special Father’s Day weekend tasting featuring Bruichladdich, one of Scotland’s most noted and fiercely independent distilleries.
Bruichladdich does whisky differently. They care deeply about where the barley comes from, how it is grown, how it is distilled, and how much character makes it into the glass. This tasting is built around that idea, showing four very different sides of the distillery, from elegant unpeated Islay single malts to the massive, legendary Octomore.
To make the afternoon even better, we asked Chef Tim to put together some bites to go with the Scotch, and we all know he never disappoints with his masterpieces.
Whether you are bringing Dad, bringing your son, coming with friends, or just want to taste some exceptional Scotch, this is one of the most unique tastings we will host this summer.
What We’ll Be Tasting
Bruichladdich Organic 2011
Organic Scottish Barley | Unpeated | American Oak Matured
This is Bruichladdich at its most pure and expressive, with notes of vanilla, honey, citrus, toasted almond, soft oak, and sweet malt. Approachable, polished, and a great place to start.
Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013
Single Vintage | 100% Islay-Grown Barley | Unpeated
Made entirely from barley grown on Islay, it brings bright fruit, honey, citrus, peach, dried apricot, vanilla, light spice, and a subtle coastal edge. Elegant, lively, and unmistakably Islay.
Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014
Single Vintage | 100% Islay-Grown Barley | Unpeated
Expect soft stone fruit, sweet malt, pear, melon, creamy vanilla, coconut, butterscotch, and a gentle floral lift. This is a great example of how barley, place, and patient distilling can shape the final whisky.
Octomore
Super-Heavily Peated | Islay-Grown Barley | Cask Strength
This is the bottle many people will come for. Octomore 14.3 is one of the most intense peated whiskies in the world, but what makes it special is not just the smoke. It is the balance. Huge peat, citrus, toasted oak, vanilla, tropical fruit, sea air, and cask-strength power all come together in a whisky that is bold, complex, and surprisingly refined.
Jim’s Notes
Being a Father, this is better than playing golf and cooking on the grill. Granted, I will probably still do that on Sunday, but on Saturday, I want to share some great scotch, food, and camaraderie.
Bruichladdich is one of those distilleries that gives you something to talk about in every glass. They are not just making Scotch. They are asking where the barley came from, how it was grown, how much of Islay can show up in the whisky, and how far they can push flavor without losing balance.
This lineup gives us a great way to taste that side by side. The Organic 2011 is clean and rich. The two Islay Barley releases show how much character unpeated Scotch can have when the raw material matters. Then Octomore 14.3 comes in and reminds everyone why this distillery has such a loyal following.
This becomes more than a tasting. It is a Father’s Day weekend experience.
